Nsette Foundation Uganda Reading Class
The Reading Class at Nsette Foundation Uganda is a child-focused learning initiative designed to help children develop strong foundational reading skills, especially Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). It also helps building confidence and developing a lasting love for books and the information held within them.
The initiative is a part of the Nsette Foundation Uganda Education Program, where we focus on providing educational opportunities and resources for children in need.

The following activities are performed in the Reading Class:
- Guided reading and storytelling
- Letter, sound and word recognition
- Reading aloud and pronunciation practice
- Vocabulary, spelling and simple writing activities
- Small-group reading and peer learning
- Storytelling, reading games and creative activities
- Encouragement for children to continue reading at home
The Reading class programme is particularly important for vulnerable children who have limited access to books and supportive learning resources. We want every child to be able to read with confidence, understand what they read, express themselves, and use reading as a foundation for success in school and life.
As we continue building out this project, we invite parents, teachers, schools, volunteers, publishers, book donors and development partners to join us by donating storybooks, reading materials, learning space, time or financial support. One book can open a child’s mind. One reading class can change a child’s future.

This project is part of our broader commitment to supporting children’s education. Another one of those projects is the solar lanterns provided to 40 OVCs in Bugweri District. The solar lantern initiative complements our education efforts by helping children continue reading, doing homework and studying after dark, especially in households where access to reliable lighting is limited.
