The a long-awaited maintenance of the Borehole in Walanga village Bugweri District has been completed and will be serving 2,200 residents and neighbouring homesteads that depend on the same Borehole
The borehole, which had been broken down for nearly a year, was officially handed back to the community by Nsette Foundation Uganda after extensive maintenance works. For months residents had been forced to return to an unprotected swamp, where they collected water shared with animals causingwas rise in typhoid, diarrhoea and other waterborne diseases mainly among children.
The rehabilitation included replacing the worn pump mechanism, Cylinder and flushing the Borehole Nsette Foundation Uganda also trained a community water user committee to manage routine maintenance.
The Borehole will provide safe water, preventing disease which will help to keep children at School and gives women back their time.
